The Middle East Institute at The National University of Singapore is pleased to host Sheikh Sultan Sooud Al-Qassemi – a renowned commentator on Arab affairs who used the power of social media during the Arab Spring. As a member of the Sharjah royal family, he will also focus on recent developments in the Gulf and their respective implications. In particular, he will touch on Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and will also comment on the outcome of the Iranian elections – an event that will surely impact the wider Middle East region. Through Sultan Al-Qassemi’s expertise, we hope to explore and provide insight into the causes and consequences of this Sunni-Shi’a rift, as well as the impact of other contemporary issues pertinent to the region.
